Explanation, in case you are a noob (no judgement, we all were noobs one day):
a., RTP: Return to Player (RTP) describes the percentage of all the wagered money that will be paid back to the players over time. The higher the RTP the better, and if it’s over 100% it’s no longer gambling, it’s investment, therefore 99.99% is the highest you can find (poker actually has 100%+ if you are good at it, also sports betting can be 100%+, but in case of sports betting RTP is not used, it has different metrics). Video poker has the highest RTP with 99%.
b., Why no movie licence slots: Very simple reason, movie licenses are extremely expensive, and casinos usually advertise these slots as well, and a marketing campaign is also very expensive. And this is expected, and built into the RTP of these slots, they reliably have the worst RTP, usually 93-96%, while older, uglier, not movie licensed slots have 97-99% (yes, some slots, very few, can have close to 99% RTP!, the uglier and older, the better).
c., Why no slots with good graphics: Same reason as with the movie license games, good graphics, newer, modern, digital slots with multiple features, 3D animations are expensive to make. They are much more expansive and time consuming than the slots of old with simple, admittedly ugly graphics and at max 1 special feature. I strongly advise anyone to NOT! to play with slots that are made after 2010 or mobile compatible slots (mobile compatibility is also expensive, the game has to fit on all the various differently sized screens, all devices, all browser) these also usually have bad RTPs, usually 96%, and older slots have usually 98%. PROTIP: Casino game manufacturers are required by law to have the RTP on their websites (it doesn’t mean it’s easy to find, in fact, they make it extra hard to find these RTP values, I have collected about 200 slots here, with RTPs, you might find what you are looking for there.
/Comment: And my God, it took longer than you can probably imagine, going through all that fine print, on barley legible, badly scanned pdf documents… It’s disgusting how these manufacturers are trying to hide there RTP values….Someone should sue them…/
d., Why casinos games over slots: Again, it’s RTP, casino games have significantly better RTP than slots, many of them close to 99%, while slots have around 96% nowadays (continuously decreasing year-by-year).
+One last advice: If you play with slots don’t forget to always increase coin size instead of increasing the number of coins! Coin number shouldn’t be touched at all, because most jackpots, special features are based on coin size only. Be careful.
EXTRA – Slots with progressive jackpots: If possible avoid slots with progressive, pooled jackpots (they usually have really bad RTPs, it’s a scam). However, if the jackpot is really high, it might make sense.
Thumb rule: multiple millions of € or $, at the very least (10+ preferably). But I personally avoid them, because it only makes sense from a gambling strategy point of view to spend money on those if you really intend to win that jackpot, and you are really committed. It takes years of playing on that same slot, regularly, and a significant amount of money to invest into the project. We are talking about multiple millions of € or $ till it’s certain you will win it. Most, 99% of people don’t have that sort of money or free time (me included), best if you avoid them. Not to mention, if someone wins it in the meantime is all for naught, so you would have to start playing with that slot day and night with at least a €,$ million for almost a year, it’s insane, but mathematically speaking if the jackpot is high enough it makes sense, you have to calculate it first of course, that too is not an easy task in itself, but if you are up for it, start here.
3., THE MOST IMPORTANT: know when to quit, once you reach 1.5x of your original deposit quit instantly!!!
