St. Kitts Casino and Gambling Guide
The St. Kitts casino and gambling scene is quite a thriving one – many forms of both online and offline gambling are legal and regulated and exclusive casinos operate as both standalone venues, and in dedicated spaces of major resorts in the island state.
The Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, also known as the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis, is a two-island country in the West Indies. Located in the Leeward Islands chain of the Lesser Antilles, it is the smallest sovereign state in the Americas – both in area and population. The country is a British Commonwealth nation, with the British Monarch as its head of state.
The central piece of legislation, in which the framework for licensing, overseeing and taxing the St. Kitts gambling industry is laid down is the The Betting and Gaming (Control) Act of 1999*. This regulation called for the establishment of the St. Christopher and Nevis Gaming Board, which is the regulatory body responsible for issuing licenses and controlling gambling activities on the islands.
All land based operators need to obtain a licence from the Board in order to legally offer their services to residents of St. Kitts and Nevis.
According to The Betting and Gaming (Control) Act of 1999, the St. Kitts Gaming Board can legally issue a general gaming license, which permits the license holder to run any kind of gambling operations online and offline. However, online gambling sites licensed in St. Kitts and Nevis are not allowed to accept wagers or registrations from local residents**. The legislation does not criminalise playing on unlicensed foreign online platforms or penalise players who do so in any way.
