Malta Gambling Guide and the Malta Gambling Licensing System

Malta, officially the Republic of Malta is a Southern European island country comprising an archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea. It is located south of Italy, east of Tunisia, and north of Libya. Malta is one of the smallest (316 km2) and most densely populated countries in the world with around 400,000 citizens. The country’s capital is Vallette, the smallest national capital in the European Union. The country was admitted to the European Union in 2004, and became part of the Eurozone in 2008. Malta’s official languages are Maltese and English.

Gambling is legal and regulated in Malta since the late 90s. The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA)* regulates and governs all gambling activities and issues licences in accordance with the government. To operate a brick & mortar gambling business, the owner has to apply for a licence from the MGA. There are currently 3 land-based casinos operating within Malta, the Dragonara Casino, the Oracle Casino, and the Casino at Portomaso. The MGA’s inspectors visit the casinos daily to ensure that all games are run fairly and according to law.
Online gambling is legal too, and it is also regulated by the MGA . Therefore, many domestic and offshore online casinos accept players from Malta.

Malta gambling license

Malta is one of the centers of online gambling. The country issues international gambling licenses (e-gaming licenses), which not only lets casinos accept players from Malta, but also from all over the world. Actually, online gambling licenses from Malta are among the best. Maltese licenses are on  the UK Gambling Commission’s whitelist, which means it is among the most trusted gambling licenses in the world. Considering all this it is not surprising, that many of the biggest players of the online gambling world are registered in this micronation.
