Salvia (Salvia divinorum, sage of the diviners, seer’s sage ) is one the strongest natural, legal drugs available. The other extremely strong legal drugs are:

Salvia’s main active ingredient, salvinorin a is the strongest naturally occurring hallucinogenic.

Salvia divinorum is one of the strongest a psychoactive plant, which can induce visions (visual and auditory hallucinations) and other hallucinatory experiences (touch , smell etc…).

Mazatec shamans have a long and continuous tradition of religious use of Salvia divinorum, using it to facilitate visionary states of consciousness.

It’s native habitat is the cloud forests in the isolated Sierra Mazateca of Oaxaca, Mexico.

Interesting facts about Salvia: The 60x Salvia divinorum extract (the strongest extract curently on the market) is on par with the most potent illegal drugs – according to trip reports and reviews online. It is said to be as strong as liquid LSD, according to reviewers.

/The 60x Salvia extract is definitely not for the faint of heart. It is definitely not for regular consumption and should be treated as a once in a lifetime experience. Tread carefully!/

Buy salvia online

You can buy Salvia online in many different forms and varieties. Salvia divinorum leaves and Salvia divinorum extracts are the most common products sold online.

I can personally vouch for the salvia leaves and extracts in the US and the Netherlands at the following legal high shops.

Update:  The US legal high shop I used to buy salvia at is no longer selling any due to harassment of the FDA

Even though salvia is legal in many US states the authorities tend to liberally interpret the federal  import alert and prosecute any legal high shop they want. But this does not affect the private consumers. Just be careful. I can only recommend European vendors right now, see below.

Salvia divinorum leaves

Salvia divinorum leaves are not as strong (but still really potent!) as the salvia extracts. The leaves are perfect to make a tea out of,  if your prefer drinking it instead of smoking it.

Salvia divinorum extract

Salvia extract can be extremely strong. It is definitely not for first timers.

You can buy Salvia divinorum extracts here – including the infamous 60x super-potent Salvia divinorum extract, which is not for the faint of heart.

Salvia divinorum – main active ingredient

This is a picture of the molecular composition of salvinorin-a, the main active ingredient of salvia. The systemic name of salvinorin-a is methyl (2S,4aR,6aR,7R,9S,10aS,10bR)-9-(acetyloxy)-2-(furan-3-yl)-6a,10b-dimethyl-4,10-dioxododecahydro-2H-benzo[f]isochromene-7-carboxylate.
Salvinorin A
The main psychoactive ingredient is the alkaloid Salvinorian A. Salvinorin A is the most potent, naturally occurring, hallucinogenic substance (only synthetic, lab-grade LSD is stronger)

Salvinorin A is a kappa opioid receptor antagonist.

Interestingly, despite its potency Salvinorin A is generally safe to consume with low toxicity and low addiction potential.

Health benefits of salvia

Some research indicates, that salvia may treat addiction.

Dangers of salvia

Salvia is generally harmless and there have been no reports of deaths attributed to salvia poisoning.

Salvia does not cause physical dependence (psychological dependence is a possibility with every legal drug of course) and may even help fight addiction (see above).

The biggest danger of salvia is the intense trip this hallucinogenic plant causes. When consuming salvia make sure not to drive, operate heavy machinery or use anything sharp or dangerous. The trip can be really intense, be prepared.

Bad trips are possible.

Salvia divinorum methods of consumption

There are two popular methods of consuming Salvia divinorum:

Many people are smoking it, which produces a short but really intense high, lasting 5-30 minutes.

Others make a tea out of the leaves (it is extremely bitter but it works) and drink it, which produces a bit less intense but longer-lasting high( lasts about 2-3 hours).

Salvia dosage

As with every other legal drug, the potency can change dramatically from batch-to-batch and vendor-to-vendor. The generally recommended salvia dosages are the following.

Smoked or vaporized, standard salvia leaves:

  • Light 0.25 g
  • Common 0.5 g
  • Strong 0.75 g

Onset : 30-180 seconds
Duration : 5-30 minutes
After effects : 30-60 minutes
Smoked or vaporized, salvia 5x extract:

  • Light 0.05 – 0.10 g
  • Common 0.08 – 0.15 g
  • Strong 0.10 – 0.25 g

Onset : 30-180 seconds
Duration : 5-30 minutes
After effects : 30-60 minutes

Salvia trip reports

The following are salvia trip reports from ordinary people who shared it with the world.

Source: Youtube
“My body was nothing more than highly organized, insanely complicated patterns of in these clouds. My consciousness shattered. I was no longer one single sentient entity, one single voice of reason in a so-called “soul.” The light I was seeing from which everything else was streaming: that was the central hub, located so infinitely far away yet immediately tangible. From that hub I could feel fierce streams of energy coursing into other realms of existence, dictating what to do not through force, but through the natural rise and fall of the waves of energy colliding with the concentrated energy balls. This hub told other forms how to act, how to move, dimensions far higher than me moving and in turn telling the dimensions far below them how to move, until I reached a level I found familiar, the core of my earthly mind, which then sent out ripples along a network through my nerves, energy impulses rippling through organs, striking cells and changing them, rippling through the micro cellular structure, colliding with the individual organelles and their parts, rippling through the chemical bonds, striking individual atoms, scattering protons, neutrons, and electrons, rippling through their subatomic parts, like infinitely tiny strings all connected to a master puppeteer so infinitely far above us. My conscious was the vast sum of all this, yet my conscious was just a tiny organelle in something so much more massive.”

“I then felt like I was floating in water, and I then saw a large endless ocean inside my head. When I looked up in the “Sky”, I saw giant telephones that were talking to each other about how strange humans look. I then joined in on the conversation, but I started a new topic about how why the sky is blue.

The Telephones said, “It’s blue because you want it to be.”. I found this very strange, and did not know what they meant. So I asked them why I wanted it blue, and they said “Make the sky purple.”, I replied “I don’t know how,…”.
They said again to me “It’s blue because you want it to be.”, i then understood what they meant, and then in my ‘Head’ I “Wanted” the sky to be purple.

The sky then turned purple, and the telephones said goodbye and floated away into the purple sky and through my Eye’s (The Two Suns).”

I’m in vt. , where it’s still legal. But ithink there should be a “grandfather clause” in the laws for people who were already growing their own plant before a ban on it. 15 yes ago when I first got my plant, it was legal most every where. Nowi’m shocked to see the extent of the bans on it. Wow! This plant is innocuously growing, minding it’s own business; while all over the world there’s big deal being made over it. Amazing!

Here’s another method of salvia usage. With fresh leaves, if you have a legal growing plant, of course. Take one old mature leaf.(the potency of leaves gardully increase as they age)Put it in your mouth. Chew it slowly with about 1\4 teaspoon of vodka.(a very small amount) Bit do not swallow.Ever! Just keep chewing slowly. After about 2or 3 minutes the alkaloids will b absorbed directly thorough to your bloodstream via your mouth membranes. This should result in a swimming or twisting sensation or dizziness. You can continue with another leaf, or stop there. If you stop at one leaf, you”ll be at a threshold level of Highness. At this level you will be able to function perfectly, except that your mood will be very good, and your physical ability for productive activities will be enhanced. This, for me, is the ideal way to use salvia.(you aren’t taking in any alcohol by swallowing, remember. You can spit it out after you feel the effects of the salvia coming on). This same method can be used with multiple mature fresh leaves at once, and it will bring on a full full psychedelic trip. The come-on period for an intense trip is about 5 minutes of multi-leaf chewing (with the small amount of vodka) , and fully coming on about another 5 min after you stop chewing. However, I don’t like salvia trips, if intense ; so the leaves mostly go unused, because one plant can easily produce 500 leaves per year. So the plant is like a vegetable-pet , that I care for and admire.

  3. Isn’t the point of states that we can make laws we like in that state? Unfortunately most people accept the laws instead of getting together and fighting them. If every salvia lover moved to one state and fought for it legally they’d have to legalize it. Most people don’t participate in this government we are part of and instead feel the government is an external entity that controls us, while in fact we the people are the largest body of government with the greatest power if only we were to use it. It’s sad that the majority of the US population don’t understand the system they’re part of, it’s even more depressing to me that there’s no way I can ever wake them up.
